Dr. Kamini Rao's Master Class

It was a pretty memorable day. The shoot that once started as an online session soon took its turn to be an offline shoot. All thanks to the server issues. Networks issues, curfews or any other obstacle, Dr. Kamini Rao’s Master Class will always make its way out to reach its viewers. This informative session with Justice N. Santosh Hegde marks the 29th successful episode of this series, and this is a must-watch for everyone out there.

What reflects our values?

Taking us back to his boyhood days in Udupi, Justice N. Santosh Hegde talks about how his father Justice K. S. Hegde has played a major role in shaping him, and his five other siblings as responsible citizens. Values reflect our sense of fairness and erroneousness.

“Inculcate two values: Contentment in life and Humanism. These two values will keep you good.”

He goes on to describe how the choices we make every day are a replication of our values; they are always directed towards a specific purpose. Today, we lack happiness and satisfaction with the simple things in life and more attached to material things. Contentment is your choice! Embrace contentment into your life and know the difference between wants and needs.

Humanism has its roots ever since Renaissance. Justice Hegde highlights the problems of modern-day society. He states: “Humanism is something you develop because of your experience in life.” Do you agree?

Are we thinking about our future generations?

Every inch of our life spins around money, whether it be leisure or labour. But, obsession with either could lead to unethical behaviour. Fortune and authority are vital indeed, yet their way of execution is much more imperative.

“Today’s society respects money & power only; How it came nobody bothers.”

Further in this session, Justice Hegde talks about how ambitions drive a person to do much more than his strengths.

“You must have an ambition, Ambition to grow, ambition to become somebody big, ambition even to become rich, but legitimate.”

We find our capabilities by being ambitious. Ambitions give us a purpose in life. Ambitions must abide by the law and must not hurt any being. If our ambitions are legitimate, no one can stop us from achieving the greatest heights. But we often confuse ourselves between greed and the former. While ambition is a positive concept, greed is associated with negativity. Greed is your insatiable desire for always having more. Greed is your belligerence. Greed is your obsession. The only thing that limits it is a conscious choice of not being greedy.

“Let’s change ourselves, and in turn, change the society.”

We’ve known Justice N. Santosh Hegde as a judge of the Supreme Court of India, Solicitor General of India and Lokayukta for Karnataka; but this insightful conversation in Dr. Kamini Rao’s Master Class brings forth his different personality, which will surely inspire the viewers.
