Pre-marital counselling for a new beginning

Here are industry reactions on the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2016 which was passed by the Lower house of India's bicameral Parliament Lok Sabha on 9th March, 2017. The Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2016 has already been passed by the Rajya Sabha on 11th August, 2016.

“I think it is a very positive initiative by the government. What we need to be looking at, is to allow women have paid leave so they do not feel left behind. I think it is good for the mother and the baby as well. With the nuclear family mushrooming, it is only the parents who are there to help. The maternity leave is a good quality time for the baby and the mothers can feed the baby as and when required without having to worry about the work and taking stress on the same. It will also go a long way to really improve the baby’s nutrition and also the neuro development of the baby. I congratulate the Government on the brilliant move”.
